Calliope
Calliope was formed in 2005 to play for English and American dances. They play regularly in Nashville
and at other dances in Tennessee.

Steve Byers, with Kent
Martin, brought live
music to Nashville's
folk dancers in the late
1970's, and Steve’s
mission is to banish
recorded music from
our dance halls.

Emma Rushton calls,
dances, and plays
fiddle, but hasn't yet
found a way to do all
three at once.

Anne Hoos's keyboard
skills are in such
demand that she's been
spotted playing in at
least four different
bands.

Jeff Rohrbough, when not playing for contra or English dance, can be found at Old Time Jams and
festivals and Civil War reenactments. Between them, they have over 45 years experience playing for
dance.

We were happy to feature Calliope at the 2007 Music City Masquerade for the Sunday morning
waltzes, where they played a mix of traditional and more contemporary waltzes.
Calliope includes (from left) Anne Hoos on piano, Steve Byers on fiddle, Jeff Rohrbough on
mandolin and guitar and Emma Rushton on fiddle.
